  The administration failed to address numerous serious and dangerous situations - drugs, bullying, sexual harassment of students... and insisted on making excuses for dangerous students, dismissing their behavior because they had "special needs" or because their "family life was in turmoil."
  When my younger daughter was ready to start middle school, her 2 older siblings insisted that she go elsewhere because they were concerned for her safety.
  While I was incredibly proud that they were so protective of their little sister, it was also a shocking revelation. When I asked if the situation was "that bad" when they were students at the school they outlined all the issues they encountered there. When I asked why they had never come to me with these issues, they explained that they knew I would "feel compelled to do something about it," and that any student whose parents had attempted to intervene was singled out, labeled as a "trouble maker" and "picked on" by the administration and certain teachers.
  We opted for a school outside our district and a 25 minute drive every morning and afternoon.
  It saddens me that while we had the option of switching schools, most students do not; as such, they are forced to endure what my children were trying to protect their sister from, rather than enjoying their time at the school and focusing on their education.

  On thursday my child twisted her ankle on school grounds during PE. She was taken to the office in a wheelchair. I picked her up from school and took her to see a doctor. On monday I sent her with a note to excuse her from all PE activities for the week. I ended up having a multi-level conversation about my ability to keep my kid from PE for a week, at the end of which my rights as a parent were disregarded.
  So much for the PILLAR of RESPECT!
